NBN

NBN

The NBN (National Broadband Network) is upgrading landline and internet networks around Australia. This will affect our customer’s emergency phone connection in their lifts because the new NBN is NOT guaranteed to work during a blackout.

It is a legal requirement to ensure your lift emergency telephone is “safe to operate”. This means that the elevator owners need to install a new “compliant solution” prior to NBN installation in their area.

What is your solution?

We can install a Gateway device for our customers. The Gateway device is essentially like a modem which works by using a SIM card.

Does the Gateway device differ between residential and commercial?

Yes, the gateway device does differ if it is for a Commercial lift compared to a Residential lift.
Some commercial lifts require a dual SIM gateway device with a SIM card from two different providers in case one of the provider’s network drops out.

What do I need to do?

If you know that you are getting NBN connected in your area soon contact us on 07 3274 4211 so that we can arrange for a gateway device to be installed.

What do I need to supply?

You will need to provide and maintain an activated sim card (standard size) from the provider of your choice that has coverage in your area.

How long will it take?

A standard installation should take a maximum of 2hrs.

Why do I need to change my lift phone?

Unfortunately, the NBN cannot guarantee communication from a lift phone in the case of a power failure. So, our solution is to use a mobile solution GSM unit with battery back up and be independent from the NBN.

How much does it cost?

The price depends on the area and the type of gateway device needed (dual or single). Please contact Aussie Lifts on 07 3274 4211 for a quote.

Will it work in my area?

Depends on your mobile service provider as some networks work better in certain areas, a simple check is to use your own mobile to check the signal strength or ask your network provider.

What is the standby and talk time while on battery back up? / Will it work if the power goes out?

The lift phone has a 24-Hour standby time on battery power and 2.5 hours talk time.

What is a standard installation?

Standard installation is where the GSM unit can be mounted in, on or near the controller, 240v power is available in or near the controller. Mobile signal strength is such that the standard antenna can be used.

What is the warranty provided?

12 months on parts and labour.
